John J. Tunney, III, who has created many Long Island culinary institutions has turned his energy and efforts to help the hundreds of disabled U.S. Veterans & their families living on and returning to Long Island NY from Iraq and Afghanistan. John then reached out to his friends Chris Giamo at TD bank, Phil Caporusso at Ferrera, DeStefano & Caporusso, John Kean at Kean Development and Rob Quadrino at PrintCraft Graphics for their generous help and commitment to this cause.
To that end, Veterans Rock is a charitable foundation (501-C3), which aims to raise money that will be used to directly retrofit homes, provide counseling, purchase prosthesis, driving apparatuses and buy food and clothing for young families who have courageously served our country, but now have found themselves unable to survive in this economy.
We ask every Long Islander to look at their ten fingers and ten toes as a reminder to give five dollars in gratitude for the service of these disabled Americans. They have given so much for us.
These extraordinary human beings have sacrificed their lives and their livelihood for every American. As often as we complain about gas prices and Wall Street, we’d have no flags to unfurl in this great democracy if not for our local soldiers.
